The Pan-African Women Network of the Americas (PAWNA) was founded to bridge the leadership gap, foster economic justice, and ensure that African women in the Americas take their rightful place in decision-making spaces.
We are a coalition of African and African-descendant women from diverse backgrounds, united by the vision of a world where African women’s empowerment is not just an agenda but a lived reality.
Through research, advocacy, capacity-building, and direct action, we challenge gender disparities and create pathways for more African women to lead, own, and shape their future.
We champion a world where African women’s voices, experiences, and expertise are valued and integrated at all levels.
We believe in shared progress, ensuring that no woman walks alone in her journey to success.
We support African women in making choices that align with their ambitions, well-being, and leadership aspirations.
We work not just for today but for future generations of African women and girls.
We hold institutions accountable for gender and racial equity commitments.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are the foundation of our work. We advocate for spaces where all African women regardless of background, ethnicity, ability, or socioeconomic status have the power, resources, and visibility to thrive.
While our primary focus is on African women’s advancement, we recognize that gender and racial equity require inclusive collaboration with men who are committed to dismantling systemic barriers.
We believe in a future where African women and men stand together to shape policies, economies, and societies that leave no one behind.
PAWNA, we empower African and African-descendant women to unite across borders, lead with confidence, and shape a more equitable future. Through sisterhood, growth, and shared progress, we create lasting impact and build a legacy where every woman’s voice is valued, and every girl’s potential is realized.
